What's Happening at Garden Crossings
Over the next few months I will be sending an occasional email about what's going on at Garden Crossings. For many of you, you do not have the opportunity to shop at our retail store. I will give you an inside look at what we have going on in hopes that you can feel right at home with Garden Crossings. We are a family owned business and we want you to feel a part of the Garden Crossings family. In some of the emails we will be featuring pictures and video of 'What's Blooming', along with other exciting happenings and gardening tips.
This week we had many of our annual plugs arrive. Most of the annuals that we plant come in as a plug, much like the one that you see to the left. Upon arrival we got all 200+ varieties sorted out, we need to put the puzzle together and figure out which varieties are needed for which hanging basket.
Here is a picture of the plugs laid out and ready to be planted in the baskets below. There are scenes like this all over our greenhouse and garden center.
To many it would look like utter ciaos, but to us it looked like organized ciaos.
Here is a close up look at one of the hanging basket combinations we planted up. This is one of my favorite shade combinations, in this basket there is Diamond Frost and also Rockapulco Double Impatiens.
We are not a huge operation, so every single Hanging Basket, Annual, Shrub and Perennial in our greenhouses has been planted by hand! These are the hands that put love into every single plant that we sell.
Here is one example of a perennial that is currently blooming in the greenhouse.
'Banana Cream' is an extra large, reblooming daisy. This exciting new Shasta Daisy has flowers that open lemon yellow, lighten to a soft butter shade, then turn white when mature.'Banana Cream' was chosen as one of Proven Winners Select Perennials.
