I planted (3) 'Roguchi' Clematis last year... the vine 'seemed' weak - NOT SO! This is a '5-star' plant.
All three climb up a trellis just outside the bedroom window and in full sun. This does appear to be a 'lax' climber but with just a bit of help - this beauty climbs the trellis and becomes a distinctly different clematis in my garden. I love it. And I had no problems with the plant coming back after its 1st winter.
The clematis even withstood a terrible hail storm and is blooming profusely in its 2nd summer.

Of all my Clematis, this is the one which receives the most comments and requests for the name. I have mine in sun climbing a arbor. It is not a strong climber so I give it a little help in going up the arbor otherwise it will grow across the ground and weave among the burning bushes next to it. I planted one plant on each side of the arbor for good coverage. Great color, great blooming habit, very unique!

I use the wonderful plant to ramble over and among pink Knock Out Roses. Mind blowing! Appears to be part of the rose plant. I want many more.

Interesting that another reviewer's plant is doing great in shade. I have mine exposed in full, unrelenting sun all day and it really thrives. It blooms from Spring to first frost and never stops and is drought tolerant. The perfect plant!

I have grown this clematis for four years and love the blooms. Summer of 2009 it did have powdery mildew while I was deployed to Iraq. Upon returning home, I cut it back dramatically. I started growing again and was healthy. Very easily grown and minimal care.

This plant is in mostly shade, and still blooms heavily! The flowers are such a beautiful shade of blue/purple. The only problem I have had is that it was covered in mildew last summer (and this is in arid high desert in AZ mountains) - I plan to move it this spring to a pot in the sunshine. This will be its' 3rd year in my garden - Love it!
