Miscanthus sinensis 'Gold Bar' PP#15,193

Common Name: “Maiden Grass”
Miscanthus sinensis Gold Bar -- Maiden Grass

(Porcupine Grass) Miscanthus 'Gold Bar' PP#15,193 is truly a show-stopper with its heavily banded gold stripes from the base of the grass to its top. The horizontal markings are much closer together than other banded miscanthus and they give 'Gold Bar' a dramatic look. Its exceptionally upright and compact habit make this new grass perfect for large containers or in small urban gardens. Burgundy inflorescences appear just above the foliage in mid fall. 'Gold Bar' is a slower, but good, grower eventually reaching five feet tall in 8 years.
