Leycesteria formosa 'Golden Lanterns®' PPAF Common Name: “Pheasant Berry”
(Pheasant Berry) Leycesteria Golden Lanterns® is a hot new shrub with attractive, clean, bright yellow-green foliage with hints of red in the new growth. In mid-summer it is covered 4 inch long pendulous drooping clusters of dark purplish-red bracts and white flowers. Edible dark purple berries are produced in autumn and actually do attract pheasants and other wildlife. It is a fantastic plant for the perennial garden or as a color item for the patio. In the north Leycesteria Golden Lanterns® is a dieback shrub that behaves live a perennial. Grows best in moist to wet conditions.
