Alcea rugosa Common Name: “Hollyhock- Russian”
Alcea Photo Courtesy of Walters Gardens
See what our great customers had to say about the Alcea rugosa . Christie C.'s Review
Location: Silt, CO
Hardiness Zone: 6
I have planted 10 of these in my rocky Mountain area where the summers are hot and the winters are cold. They are perfect for this area, lovely pale yellow blooms, no rust and drought tolerant. Customer Rating:
(Hollyhock - Russian) Butterflies and hummingbirds will love this pretty yellow hollyhock that is a hardy variety native to the Ukraine. The large, single flowers appear on strong, hairy stalks in midsummer. Alcea rugosa creates a great backdrop for your garden perennials. Alcea rugosa is resistant to hollyhock rust, and is considered to be a biennial (short-lived perennial).
