Lovely flower clusters throughout season. Birds enjoy berries. Black Lace is a little leggy, and breaks easily, so should be planted well away from pathways.

Common Name: “Elderberry”

(Elderberry) Black Lace™ Sambucus is perhaps the coolest new plant on the market! This new Sambucus looks more like a Japanese maple or a Cimicifuga but it is a whole lot easier to grow. The lacy, intense purple-black foliage offers unique texture to the garden and provides season long interest. In midsummer, massive clusters of pink flowers cover the plant and emit a light lemon fragrance. The flowers are a wonderful contrast to the dark foliage. Black Lace™ is extremely durable and an excellent grower! A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub.
