(Oriental Poppy) Enjoy beautiful spring color with the blooms of Papaver 'Manhattan'. This beautiful reblooming poppy starts blooming in late May early June, then it rests for the summer as it waits to put on a secondary fall show. 'Manhattan' has heavily ruffled petals with a satiny texture that resembles crepe paper, with upright 6 inch blooms. 'Manhattan' flowers are a plum red color and have centers with large black blotches that surround the velvety-black seed head and dark purple stamens. Oriental Poppy 'Manhattan' grows best in a full sun garden and can tolerate drought conditions once established, thought it blooms in rich, moist, well-drained soils the best. 'Manhattan' grows 28- 30 inches tall and has foliage that lasts longer than many other poppy varieties. Deer and Rabbits tend to avoid this plant.
