(Apple Tree) Enjoy the homegrown flavors of the Fuji Apple from your own backyard! The Fuji apple first originated in Japan as a cross between Red Delicious and Rawls Jennet. Known for its sweet, crisp flavors Fuji Apples range from medium to large in size. Great for snacking, Fuji Apples have a long shelve life even without refrigeration for up to 12 months. You can expect your fruit to ripen in mid-September through mid-October depending on the season and your location. Fuji Apples are adaptable to many soil types as long as they are well drained and have a pH level between 6.0 and 7.0. A full sun location is most recommended for best performance. Fuji Apples are not self-pollinating so we recommend planting another apple tree of a different variety within 50 foot of each other. Fuji trees can grow 17-20 foot tall and wide. We recommend trimming and shaping your tree for the first 2-3 years to encourage better branching and structure. Once a good structure is obtained, we recommend pruning your tree in the late fall to encourage more branching creating more buds. Requires 100-400 chill hours.
