(Apple Tree) America's favorite apple for snacking, the Red Delicious! Enjoy homegrown flavor from your own backyard with Red Delicious Apples. The large, deep red, classic shape apple has a firm texture with a sweet taste. Enjoy eating fresh from the tree or in salads. Red Delicious have a long shelf life with proper storage. You can expect your fruit to ripen mid-September- October depending on the season and your location. Red Delicious are a cold hardy variety hardy down to zone 4. Red Delicious are adaptable in well drained, loamy soil with pH levels between 6.0 and 7.0. A full sun location receiving at least 6 hours of sun is recommended. Non self-pollinating, we recommend planting another apple variety within 40-50 foot of each other. Red Delicious can grow 18-20 foot tall. We recommend trimming and shaping your tree for the first 2-3 years to encourage better branching and structure. Once a good structure is obtained, we recommend pruning your tree in the late fall to encourage more branching creating more buds. Requires 800 chill hours. - More Info
