(Freestone Peach) Nothing says summer like the juicy, sweet taste of Red Haven Peaches. In late spring the beautiful pink flowers are a welcoming sight. In late July the medium sized yellow red fruit starts to ripen. The virtually fuzz less skin covers the firm, sweet, creamy colored fruit. Red Haven is a freestone Peach making it easy to prepare for snacking, canning or freezing. Red Haven Peaches are adaptable in many soil types but prefer to be planted in well drained to average moist, loamy locations with a pH of 6.0-7.0. Hardy in zones 5-9, a full sun location is best receiving 6-8 hours of direct sunlight. Red Haven Peaches are self-pollinating but can be planted with other varieties. Red Haven Peaches typically can grow up to 25 foot but are often trimmed back to 15 foot for easy harvesting. We recommend trimming and shaping your tree for the first 2-3 years to encourage better branching and structure. Once good structure is obtained, we recommend pruning/trimming your tree late in the fall to encourage more buds. Red Haven peaches typically take 2-4 years to produce fruit. Requires 950 chill hours.
