(Bleeding Heart) Native, Bleeding Hearts a popular spring flower for the shade garden. Dicentra eximia is a reliable bloomer with clusters of light pink heart shaped flowers. The bright green foliage looks like a fern and forms a clumping habit that is 8-12 inches tall and wide. Slightly different from the Old Fashion Bleeding heart, Dicentra eximia flowers are more oblong and each cluster forms several flowers. A native, hardy in zone 4-8, Dicentra prefer shade to part shade locations with moist well drained soil. A prefect addition for woodland and shady rock gardens. When happy, Dicentra eximia will self-seed creating more beauty around your garden.
