(Meadowsweet) Filipendula 'Elegans' is a wonderful compact version of the species. The airy plume flower heads appear pink but are really composed of tiny near white flowers with red stamens. 'Elegans' dark green leaves are also attractive when the plants are not in bloom. Meadowsweet are long-lived plants but they prefer moist to wet soils. They have a spreading habit, but are not invasive.
