This plant is the greatest. I live at 9000' elevation in a semi-arid climate with tons of deer. The deer never touch this plant. I get a nice show of flowers from mid-July until hard frost (mid Sept). They probably start blooming sooner at lower elevations. I do give it some supplemental water, but if I miss a watering, it is not effected. I fertilize it once in the spring with a slow release fertilizer, then maybe once mid to late summer. My soil is rocky and gritty, and cold all summer. The plants have formed nice clumps and they come back strong year after year. What's not to like! (Posted on 3/11/2013)
