Bring the tropics to your garden with Passion Flower vine. This climbing vine is perennial in zones 6-9 and will be evergreen in tropical climates but is deciduous in colder areas. The exotic, sweetly fragrant, purple and white flowers can be up to 4" across and will bloom in abundance during the summer. The egg-shaped fruits of the Passion Flower are edible, however, they are not tasty raw but have a somewhat blackberry-like flavor when cooked.
Passion Flower vines like loose, well-drained soils and do not like to be over watered. Go light on the fertilizer and water deeply, but infrequently. Site in an area where the vine can be left undisturbed, as it grows deep, well-branched root systems.
