(NInebark) The Blackest Ninebark on the market thus far is SUMMER WINE® Black. Standing 5-6 foot tall and wide, SUMMER WINE® Black creates an upright mounding habit shrub. The dark burgundy black foliage has heavily serrated edges creating a nice texture. In late spring/ early summer large white/pink clusters of flowers emerge on this flowering shrub. But the interest does not end there! As the flower heads mature they form rich red seed pods for additional weeks of interest. It has been noted that SUMMER WINE® Black has the highest level of mildew resistance of any of the Ninebarks available. Hardy in zones 3-7, The sturdy stems create an upright habit and are great for cut flower/foliage arrangements. SUMMER WINE® Black is a native shrub variety that is compact enough for container gardens as well as used in borders, hedges, specimen and foundation plantings. Ninebark are an easy to grow shrub that is resistant to deer. SUMMER WINE® Black, a PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.
