(Hen&Chicks) Looking to add color to your succulent garden? Berry Bomb™ is a must have in your Chick Charms® collection. Big on color as well as appearance, Berry Bomb™ forms clusters of large rosettes that are a deep burgundy red color early spring into summer when planted in full sun. Standing 2 inches tall and spreading up to 12 inches wide, Berry Bomb™ is a great addition for rock gardens, wall plantings, borders, ground covers as well as for patio planters. Chick Charms® are a drought tolerant, evergreen perennial that is hardy in zones 4-9 and grows well in full sun to light shade. Berry Bomb™ consists of one large rosette (the “hen”) and many smaller rosettes (the “chicks”) which can be pulled up and replanted elsewhere to start new plants. If ‘gardening’ really isn’t your thing, Chick Charms® Berry Bomb™ can be! Collect several of our ‘chicks’ and create a table top planter, perfect for patios, desks or in a bright location in your home. I bought a couple of these succulents believing them to remain as they appear. However, this is not the case … the centre of the ‘rosette’ has ‘erupted’ into a very ‘odd’ (and I’m being polite when I say that) wobbly, red/pink tipped, 5 inch tall almost cylindrical object with the ‘little chicks’ rosettes dangling around the edge. Soil is visible between the ‘eruption’ & the smaller dangling rosettes!!! It is the most strange looking plant I have ever seen & quite honestly am seriously thinking of digging it/them up (I have two)!!! Not really sure what to make of them but certainly have turned into something totally unexpected & not pretty!! What I have are definitely not ground cover ??

What you are seeing is the flower known as the ‘rooster’.The little flowers ‘dangling’ are the chicks or new plants.
