(Blood Leaf) Look! Another option for shade gardeners. Iresine ‘Blazin’ Rose’ is an attractive foliage plant that has a tropical feel. The oval leaves are a dark burgundy color with striking bloom red veins that create a nice texture to this plant. Standing 18-30 (in warmer climates) tall Iresine ‘Blazin’ Rose’ is a great thriller for container combinations. Or head out back to your woodland garden and mix Iresine with hosta and other shade loving plants for a beautiful contrast of colors and textures. Iresine can tolerate being grown in full sun to full shade locations, although in hot areas we recommend a bit of shade. ‘Blazin’ Rose’ is fairly easy to grow and does well in moderate to moist soil locations. Generally Iresine is left alone by the deer for other more tasty treats.
