Ship Spring 2022

(Blue Star) Amsonia ‘Hubrictii’ is a spectacular perennial with soft, needle-like leaves that line the stems like bottlebrushes. The deer resistant foliage forms a perfect mound and turns bright gold in the fall. Hundreds of small, light blue, star-shaped flowers adorn Amsonia’Hubrictii’ in late spring through early summer. Looks beautiful as a perennial hedge! Amsonia ‘Hubrictii’ is native to the South Central region of the United States and prefers to be planted in full sun to part shade locations in average, moist soil. The plant can be trimmed back after flowering to preserve the rounded habit. Hardy in zones 4-9.

  1. Gwen | Zone: 5a

    Texture and Variation
I enjoy the texture and variation it provides to the yard. The unusual accent of color in the fall is nice. It started off slowly, but now after several years is well established and is doing very well.

  2. Debbie | Zone: 7b

    Does Not Like Heat
This plant is a very fine leafed plant (similar to Moonbeam Coreopsis) – it does not seem to tolerate the heat very well. During the first year the plant has only grown to about 12 tall and 4″ wide. We will see what the cooler weather of fall brings.”

  3. Georgann C | Zone: 6b

    Wonderful Color
Wonderful color in the fall especially. Only suited to very large areas where it can remain undisturbed. Very ,very difficult to move or remove due to deep, tough woody roots. Wonderful in country settings. In zone 6 does not mind heat, drought, wet etc. Very hardy.
