Decadence® Deluxe 'Pink Lemonade' False Indigo (Baptisia)

(False Indigo) Decadence® Deluxe ‘Pink Lemonade’ Baptisia carries two flower colors on every spike, a first for the Decadence® series. Soft yellow blooms open in late spring, then slowly age to a dusty raspberry purple. Because fresh and older flowers appear side by side, each spike glows with both shades into early summer. Charcoal stems make the colors stand out even more. The blooms sit atop a compact clump of deep blue-green foliage, and the plant keeps offering interest into fall.

This native North American perennial grows 42–48 inches tall and 46–48 inches wide. The Deluxe name points to its taller, vase-shaped habit, which brings height and structure to the garden. Use one as a focal point in a mixed border, or work several into a prairie-style planting or pollinator garden. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms, while deer tend to leave it alone, a real plus for open, unfenced yards. Hardy in zones 4–9, it handles part sun but grows best in full sun. You can also cut stems for fresh arrangements or dry them for lasting displays.
