In late spring, spikes appear with deep purplish black flowers that are nestled just above the bright green foliage. As the flowers fade, dark seed pods remain. These can be trimmed off or left, which ever look suits you. Grown in full sun to part shade locations this native False Indigo is drought tolerant once established.
