Description

(Barrenwort) 'Hugs and Kisses' Epimedium is a unique addition to your shade garden. In mid to late spring distinctly shaped, deep pink blooms appear on long thin stems. These blooms stand out against foliage that is a muted green color with a dusting of red. Commonly called Barrenwort, epimediums thrive in part shade to full shade locations in the garden. 'Hugs and Kisses' Epimedium is hardy in zones 5-8. It can reach a height of about 8-12 inches and is about 18-24 inches wide. It is both deer resistant and rabbit resistant, so no need to worry about these critters munching away at the plant. Easy to care for, this plant is drought tolerant once established. It does not require trimming, but doing so in the late winter can potentially promote more blooms the following spring. Its foliage is semi-evergreen, extending its season of interest in the garden. Be patient with this epimedium, as it can be a slow grower. This epimedium pairs well with other shade loving perennials such as heuchera, hakonechloa, and hostas. Plant as a specimen plant, a mass planting, or as a border plant in the garden. 'Hugs and Kisses' Epimedium is a Proven Winners® Perennial.
