(Garden Mum) Chrysanthemum Wanda™ Red will add a burst of renewed color to your fall containers and borders.    Wanda™ Red is a decorative cushion mum and it’s rich burgundy red color holds up throughout the season. It is an excellent addition to your window boxes and containers and will bring back life to your fading landscapes. It will also provide a late-season source of nectar for butterflies, so be sure to add some of these fall-blooming gems to your landscape.  Garden mums prefer full sun, but will tolerate light shade, especially in hotter climates.  They also need adequate amounts of water, so be sure to keep them moist.  They will thrive with a weekly application of a water soluble fertilizer when in bloom.  Although garden mums can be grown as a perennial depending on the hardiness zone they are located in, they do tend to perform as annuals in northern areas of the country.

Wanda Red Mum is the most beautiful and unique color of red. It isn’t a garish red – it’s more of a rosy red. And it’s covered in blooms. I really love this mum. It’s easy to grow and the color display in fall is stunning. So far mine have survived two winters in zone 5. I planted my Wanda Mums next to the mailbox with a Blue Azurri Rose of Sharon and Black-eyed Susans. It looks like a landscaper picked the color palette!

We always threw our pots away when the plant died. We started clipping the dead branches off and saving the pots and kept them on the side of our house. We noticed that they start growing leaves in the spring and now in late April they are all ready to bloom soon! Some mums that we did this with last year were more hearty than the fresh store bought ones in the fall.
