Temple of Bloom® Seven Son Flower (Heptacodium)

(Seven-Son Flower)Add four seasons of interest with Temple of Bloom® Seven-Son Flower. This unique flowering shrub can also grow as a beautiful multi-stemmed tree. Large green leaves create a lush backdrop throughout spring and summer. Fragrant white flowers appear in late summer, when many other shrubs have finished blooming. The flower clusters attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to the garden.

The show continues well beyond the blooms. After the white flowers fade, deep red to dark pink bracts develop for striking fall color. These colorful bracts create the appearance of a second round of flowers. Temple of Bloom® Seven-Son Flower also brings texture to the winter landscape. Tan peeling bark becomes more noticeable after the leaves drop, providing another season of interest.

Hardy in zones 5-9, this seven-son flower grows 15-20 feet tall and 6-10 feet wide. Plant it in full sun or part sun for best results. Its upright habit makes it an impressive specimen or focal point in larger garden beds. You can also train it into a small multi-stemmed tree.

Temple of Bloom® Seven-Son Flower combines flowers, colorful bracts, attractive foliage, and decorative bark in one plant. It also tolerates heat and some drought once established. With something new to enjoy each season, this flowering shrub earns its place as a standout landscape feature. Heptacodium TEMPLE OF BLOOM® is a PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.
