(Rose Mallow) The contrast of color that SUMMERIFIC® ‘Evening Rose’ Hibiscus brings to the garden is unlike any other! The large hot pink flowers ‘pop’ against the dark, near-black foliage. Each bloom of SUMMERIFIC® ‘Evening Rose’ reaches up to 8 inches across and is heavily puckered creating a nice texture. Standing 4 feet tall and wide the upright mounding habit is a perfect specimen for the garden. Planted in full sun to part shade locations. SUMMERIFIC® ‘Evening Rose’ Hibiscus is hardy in zones 4-9. With average to consistent water needs, SUMMERIFIC® ‘Evening Rose’ can be planted in areas with poor to fertile soil. This native perennial is deer resistant and attracts butterflies and pollinators to the garden. If you are looking for a plant that will have the neighbors turning their heads I think this will be just the plant. Please note that Hardy Hibsicus is one of the last plants to emerge in the spring, here in Michigan it is often the beginning of June before we see them. Once they emerge they are quick to grow and will be flowering by mid to late summer. SUMMERIFIC® ‘Evening Rose’ is a Proven Winners® Perennial.

They are still babies but look healthy and are doing great! I can’t wait to see the beautiful blooms next year

Most beautiful big pink bloom I’ve ever seen. I just put it in the ground 3 weeks ago. Keeping the ground moist until I seen new growth. Late August is when I planted it.

Not very deer resistant. They just got eaten a little, hopefully it still blooms
Heidi Grasman –
If deer are hungry enough, they will eat anything. starting with favorites and moving on to others.

Updating a premature review. Mine did start regrowth the last week of April. I didn’t know they regrow from the root instead of last years growth. Looking forward to the beautiful blooms I got last year!

Beautiful flowers. Grew well after planted and bloomed nicely. Seems not to have survived the zone 7 winter.

Thank you for your review. Rose Mallow is one of the last things to emerge in the spring/early summer. It is the beginning of April and you are in zone 7. I would anticipate you have another good month (depending on where you live in zone 7) before you will start seeing any signs of new growth. In Michigan zone 6, we usually start seeing sprouts at the very end of May and beginning of June.

Stunning show stopper! Planted this last year and it is absolutely everything as described. I am in zone 9 and had unusual hard winter this year, two were in ground so I covered them, and happy to say they survive the freezing winter weather. I have been trying to get more but it is always out of stock everywhere, so if you are lucky to see in-stock Buy Buy Buy!

Planted this Hibiscus last fall, so excited to see it’s blooms. Need to buy more!
