Description

(Hosta) In the world of fashion, Hosta ‘Mini Skirt’ steals the show. This compact, miniature hosta forms a cute little mound of heavily ruffled foliage that stands 5 inches tall and 13 inches wide. Planted in part shade to full shade, the thick foliage is a blue-green color with pale yellow margins in the spring. As summer comes around, the center turns more green and the margins lighten to a creamy white. ‘Mini Skirt’ produces short lavender flowers during midsummer as an added accent. Perfect for miniature gardens, it’s a true collector's Hosta. Hosta ‘Mini Skirt’ is well suited for shallow container gardens or as a garden border. It is hardy in zones 3-9 and thrives in moderate to moist soil conditions. Its flowers attract hummingbirds and bees in the summer, making it a great pollinator plant for your shade gardens. You’ll be able to enjoy the beauty of Hosta ‘Mini Skirt’ all throughout spring, summer, and fall! Try planting it with Astilbe, Heuchera, Brunnera, Hakonechloa, and other shade perennials for a gorgeous look. Hostas are generally easy to grow and maintain.

I was concerned at first because the hosta was so small. When I saw the root system, I was no longer concerned. After planting, it took off and put out new growth-even this late in the season. Zone 9.
