Citronella Mosquito Plant (Pelargonium)

A member of the geranium family, citronella has a pleasant citrus scent that comes from its foliage. Although the plant itself may not repel Mosquitoes, when you rub these leaves together you get the citronella oil on your hands. This pleasant scent, when rubbed on your skin, may naturally help repel mosquitoes from biting you. The foliage features heavily serrated bright green leaves when matures it can reach heights of 2-3 feet tall. Mosquito Plant - Scented Geranium prefers to be grown in a full sun location, in shadier areas stretching may occur. If you want to cut some of its foliage for indoor cut flower displays you need not worry, it will quickly replenish itself. We recommend planting your Citronella in a 10-14" large patio container. Citronella can be planted by itself, or create a wonderfully scented planter by mixing it with a few of your favorite annuals. Feel free to bring your plant indoors for the winter by placing it in a bright sunlight window.
