Description

(Lungwort) Start coloring up your garden early by adding some early season bloomers to your garden. Pulmonaria 'Pink-A-Blue' features silvery green foliage with white dots for season-long foliage interest brightening up dark shade locations. Late spring bubblegum pink buds appear that turn into periwinkle blue flowers. The buds and blooms appear simultaneously creating a flurry of color on Pulmonaria 'Pink-A-Blue'. Standing 16-18 inches tall and spreading up to 24 inches wide, this floriferous bloomer creates a nice variegated mound. Hardy in zones 3-9, 'Pink-A-Blue' likes to be grown in full to part shade locations with fertile moist soil. The hairy textured foliage is deer and rabbit resistant. The early season blooms are a welcome treat to the early arriving hummingbirds and pollinators. Plant in mass or as a border plant for early season color. Pulmonaria 'Pink-A-Blue' is a member of the Proven Winners® Perennial Collection.

Not only is the foliage stunning on Pink-a-Blue Pulmonaria, the pink and blue early season blooms are striking as well. I love the large cluster of blooms each plant provides.

I ordered 3 of the Pink-a-Blue plants last year. They came up this mid-March, very cold, wet snowy Wisconsin weather where I'm on open farmland zone 4-5. It's the 3rd week of April, and they're still blooming, periwinkle blue and pink, profusely. I'm so impressed that I ordered 12 more quart pots to add to my previous 3 plants from Garden Crossings under an apple tree. I have noticed that early pollinators are visiting this plant, while there is very little else blooming this early here. Very pretty foliage when not in bloom, as well.
