(Indian Pink) We are so excited to have Spigelia in the Proven Winners collection! Spigelia ‘Apple Slices’ features the darkest red blooms to date. These wine-red tubular blooms are upward-facing and have yellow throats. Blooming early to midsummer, these native perennials are a feast for hummingbirds and butterflies. Planted in full sun to part shade locations, it grows to about 20 inches tall and spreads to 18 inches wide forming a nice mound. Hardy in zones 5b- 9, Spigelia ‘Apple Slices’ is the most vigorous so far in our collection. Spigelia can be found in moist, fertile woodland areas in the East, make sure your location has good drainage. This long-blooming perennial adds a nice texture and an intense shade of red to garden beds. Plant in mass or as a specimen for an eclectic look to your garden. This easy-to-grow perennial also makes a great cut flower. Spigelia ‘Apple Slices’ is part of the Proven Winners® Perennial collection.
