Connie M's Review
Location: Erie, MI
Hardiness Zone: 5

Received my plants in early spring, beautifully shaped, full of branches and blooming prolifically. As always, the packaging and shipping were superb! We had a late frost that gave me a sneak preview of the fall foliage colors, burgundy and purple, but they've continued to grow. They provide the showy blooms of the hydrangea while staying compact--perfect for smaller garden spaces. I am very pleased with these plants!

Proven Winners Color Choice

Common Name: “Hydrangea Big Leaf- Mountain”

(Hydrangea) Tiny Tuff Stuff™ Hydrangea is a compact Mountain Hydrangea. This little guy is as 'tuff' as its name. The lace cap flowers feature tiny double blooms that are thick in substance. The florets tend to lean towards a pale blue color but you may also see shades of pinks and white. As the flower ages the blooms turn to pink shades. Tiny Tuff Stuff™ is a floriferous variety that blooms on both new wood and old, which creates an incredible display of color. Tiny Tuff Stuff™ is a re bloomer in late summer, the flowers are held on hardy stems. It has a wonderful compact habit, growing to only 18-24 inches tall. Hydrangea Big Leaf- Mountain Growing Tips:

Tiny Tuff Stuff  Hydrangea flowers on new and old wood, the best time to prune it is after it blooms, from mid-July to mid-August. Cease pruning in mid-august to allow time for the flower buds to form prior to winter. As a young plant it is best to prune or pinch your plant in order to build a full bodied, well branched plant. If the plant is leggy when you purchased it, shear the plant back hard by 1/3 to 1/2 its original size. Once it puts on an inch or two of growth, pinch the branch tips to remove just the growing tip. This tip controls branching. Once it is removed the buds below it will turn into stems. Once these new branches grow an inch or two, pinch the tip out again. You can repeat this throughout the first growing season as you are tending your garden. This technique results in a well branched, full bodied plant that will have more flowers in subsequent years. The second season in the ground, repeat the pinching practice (or lightly shear) up until mid-August. Cease pruning and pinching to allow the flower buds to set.
