(Didelta) Silver River Didelta is a striking annual succulent grown more for its dramatic silvery-velvet foliage than for showy blooms. Its soft, silvery leaves lend an elegant, smoky accent to mixed containers, hanging baskets, and garden beds. The plant forms a semi-trailing, spreading habit that typically reaches 8-12 inches tall and spreads 12 to 24.
Silver River Didelta thrives in full sun and prefers light, well-drained soil, tolerating dry and hot conditions once established. It is highly drought tolerant and quite heat tolerant, making it a “bulletproof summer performer” in warm climates. Because it’s mainly grown for foliage, its flowers are modest (often yellow when present) and not a primary feature.
When it comes to care, allow the soil to dry between waterings. Fertilizer is generally not required beyond soil preparation this plant’s modest nutrient needs align with its succulent nature. Its silvery foliage makes it an excellent contrast plant, providing texture and brightness next to green-leaved, colorful flowering species. In containers or hanging baskets, its semi-trailing stems cascade gracefully, softening edges and elevating design interest.
