(Sweet Potato Vine) Ipomoea ‘Margarita’ is a vigorous, trailing, Sweet Potato Vine with a mounding growth habit. The foliage is a brilliant chartreuse and will add a pop of color to your combination planters, window boxes, hanging baskets and even your landscape borders, as ‘Margarita’ makes a great groundcover. ‘Margarita’ grows 6-10 inches high with a spread of 48-60 inches and can trail up to 72 inches. Even though this Sweet Potato Vine is a robust grower, it is easily trimmed to keep it in bounds. Place ‘Margarita’ in full sun to part shade and watch it grow! You will notice the color of Ipomoea ‘Margarita’ will be brighter in full sun locations, and a bit more subdued in part shade.

I have planted this one reliably for several years. I usually pair it with coleus of a few colors. Does well in partial shade.

I plant theses every year but would like to add some color to them n the patio planter . Any suggestions?

    • Heidi Grasman

Try adding Supertunias or Superbells with this for a colorful combination.
