(Red Head Fountain Grass) Pennisetum 'Red Head', an impressive new grass, is the largest flowering of all the Fountain Grasses! It shows off plumes which resemble burgundy-red fox tails when opening and then explode into huge smoky-purple bottlebrushes. Each bottlebrush plume measures a whopping 3" wide and over 8" long! 'Red Head' offers attractive gold foliage in the fall. Destined to become a classic. Pennisetum 'Red Head' is considered a tender perennial and does over winter in zone 9 and higher. For all other zones, it should be considered an annual grass. "Red Head' is very fast growing and will form a large clump in very little time. Get the WOW look by using Pennisetum 'Red Head' as the thriller in container gardening or patio planters.

A Beauty Review by Jeff B | Zone: 5
Never fails year to year, this one is a beauty. At around 3 ft. and loaded with 8 inch beautiful Smokey purple red plumes long lasting and worth the money. I have 5 in a half moon section in the yard and larger ornamental behind, wow! (Posted on 9/18/2009)
Best Grass Review by Jean W | Zone: 5
This is by far the best grass I have seen yet. It is blooming wonderfully here in Michigan in early September. Planted with Black-eyed Susan in front it is just stunning. (Posted on 9/9/2009)
