Eucalyptus is native to Australia and is known as a favorite food of the cute koala! The oval, sturdy leaves of Eucalyptus are an attractive silver-blue and have a pleasing menthol-like fragrance that are commonly used in aromatherapy and cold remedies. In the garden, Eucalyptus is used as a stunning ornamental accent plant in the mixed border or a unique thriller in a container. It also makes a great houseplant. Prized by florists, Eucalyptus, is also excellent as a cut flower either fresh or dried. Eucalyptus requires full sun and prefers well-drained soil and regular watering, but can tolerate drought once established.
