Bottlebrush, also known as Fothergilla, is a North American native deciduous shrub that provides several seasons of interest for the landscape. This easy care shrub bursts forth in spring with sweetly fragrant flowers that resemble a bottle brush. Glossy green leaves make a striking change in fall to shades of red, orange and yellow. Bottlebrush is also one of the most shade tolerant of all shrubs, however more sun exposure will produce the most flowers and best fall color. It is an ideal choice for foundations, mixed border planting, in masses, or planting under trees in zones 5-9.
