What’s tastier than a homegrown tomato picked right off the vine? Nothing! Tomatoes grow best in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. All but patio type tomatoes benefit from staking or should be enclosed in tomato cages. We’ve found that mulching tomato plants with grass clippings or hardwood mulch helps retain moisture and avoid cracking. If your soil pH is less than 6.0, add garden lime before planting to grow the healthiest plants
