Actaea

Our actaea family includes black snakeroot and cimicifuga. All varieties require part to full shade, growing in ranges 2 to 7 feet tall and 2 to 4 feet wide. The dark foliage and fragrant bottle brush type flowers attract butterflies and deter deer. Depending on the variety, the snakeroot or cimicifuga flowers appear beginning early spring or summer and rebloom through fall.
