Delosperma - Ice Plant

Delosperma is a drought tolerant, perennial ground cover with succulent foliage that is mostly evergreen. These little gems love the sun and are perfect choices for dry sites such as the rock garden. The common name, ‘Ice Plant’ doesn’t come from its cold hardiness (although it can be grown in zones ranging from 4-9), but rather from the bright flowers and leaves that seem to shimmer in the sun as though they were covered in frost. Because Delosperma are succulents, they do not tolerate wet soils, so make sure to grow them in well-drained soil and do not over water. These easy care plants will reward you in the summer and fall with flowers in bright shades of red, orange, pink or purple.
