(Clematis) Clematis tangutica is a vigorous and free-flowering vine. In midsummer, an explosion of 1-2 inch bright yellow lantern-like flowers cover the bright green foliage. The lovely flowers continue to bloom through October and are then followed by attractive seed heads in late fall. Clematis tangutica grows up to 10-20 foot tall and looks stunning when planted over an arbor! Part of prune group 3, tangutica can be trimmed back to the ground each Fall.

Grows Rapidly Review by Gs | Zone: 5a
I have had this plant for 3 years know and it grows rapidly. The flowers are unique as are the seed heads they produce. However, a word of warning, this particular clematis has a tendency to stray from its original placement.(in some areas of the country) So be sure to keep it in check, literally pull out the strays and prune it lightly as needed. Invasive Review by Gwen A | Zone: 5b
This plant was extremely invasive for me. The seed heads are very interesting, but my plant was planted near a pinyon pine in my backyard and the pine tree and nearby plants were covered by this vine. The pine tree was so covered that its growth became distorted. I found that this clematis spreads far through underground runners. (Posted on 2/22/2010)
Vigorous Grower Review by Gail J | Zone: 4b
This is one of my most vigorous growers. I think it is more beautiful after it flowers and leaves the seed heads (Posted on 2/16/2010)
