(Columbine) A welcome addition to the spring garden is when the Columbine flowers start to bloom. Aquilegia ‘Earlybird Blue and White’ features large, bright blue and white flowers that bloom late spring/ early summer. Standing 9-11 inches tall and spreading up to 10 inches wide, the upward-facing flowers cover the bright green foliage. Hardy in zones 3-9, ‘Earlybird Blue and White’ is a very versatile perennial that likes to be planted in full sun to part sun locations. Columbines are a welcome addition to woodland gardens. These early-season bloomers attract butterflies, hummingbirds, and pollinators to the garden. These deer and rabbit-resistant perennials are easy to grow and make a great cut flower. Deadheading may encourage additional blooming. Dried flower pods produce a plethora of seeds, these may be trimmed off or scattered for additional plants. Mix with Aquilegia ‘Earlybird Red and White’ for a colorful mixture of blooms.
