(Clematis) This clematis is a popular favorite! ‘Ramona’ Clematis has perfectly formed lavender-blue flowers with contrasting dark red anthers. A very attractive flower color that is complemented with healthy green foliage. Each flower is about 6-8 inches in size. ‘Ramona’ blooms in the late summer beginning in July and lasting until September. Plant in full sun to part shade locations and be sure to keep the roots well shaded. This can be done by planting shorter plants around the roots, or with a layer of mulch. Pruning for ‘Ramona’ Clematis can be group 2 or 3, although a hard prune (group 3) will result in the loss of early flowers. Pruning should happen in the late winter, either February or March, and you should also clean up any dead or weak branches this time of year. Clematis are a great way to add vertical color and interest to the garden. Pair with other clematis on the same trellis or climbing support for a beautiful wall of color. Flower color may vary based on the environment.

1 review for Clematis ‘Ramona’

  1. Pittsburgh Gardener | Zone: 6a

    Full of Blooms
I planted this 3 years ago, and it has done really well. It is in full sun, full of blooms just like the picture in late May and early June. My only wish would be for the foliage to be a little fuller. We are right on the border of zones 5 and 6.
