Big Beef' produces smooth skinned fruits that are globe-shaped, 10-12 oz. and disease resistant. This Tomato is a gardener?s top choice for a Beefsteak variety. It is extra 'meaty' and has that homegrown taste you would expect in a tomato, just the right mixture of sugars and acids. 'Big Beef' is a vigorous variety and does well when staked or caged. Tomatoes prefer to be planted in a full sun location and requires at least 1 inch of water a week. Tomatoes not only can be planted in the garden, but are also a great patio container plant. Tomatoes can be harvested once they start to turn color, they will continue to ripen even after they are picked. The longer they can stay on the vine, the tastier they will be. 'Big Beef' Tomatoes can be stored on the counter in indirect sunlight for up to 3 days. To slow the ripening process down tomatoes can be refrigerated but may lose some of their flavor.
