(Pigsqueak) A perennial for sun or shade, Bergenia ‘Peppermint Patty’ is a very versatile addition to the garden. ‘Peppermint Patty’ stands 22 inches tall and spreads to 18 inches wide. This unique-looking Bergenia features white flowers that have a pink throat that bleeds into each of the petals. The flowers can vary from white shades to deep pink shades depending on how much ‘bleed’ has occurred. The flowers are larger than most averaging 1.25 inches wide. The thick glossy green foliage has wavy, serrated edges. Hardy in zones 4-8, Bergenia is an evergreen perennial that is deer and rabbit resistant. Blooming early to late spring, ‘Peppermint Patty’ attracts butterflies and pollinators to the garden. Planted in average to fertile soil, Bergenia makes a great border, ground cover, or addition to rock gardens and container gardens.
