(Clematis) Simply breathtaking best describes Clematis ‘Venosa Violacea’. The beautiful 4-5 inch blooms feature white with deep purple veins extending out to solid purple edges. ‘Venosa Violacea’ is an extremely distinctive cultivar that should be part of every clematis collector’s garden. Standing 8-9 feet tall, ‘Venosa Violacea’ is a perfect selection to meander through shrubs or to grow up a trellis/arbor. Blooming July through August, ‘Venosa Violacea’, adds a stunning splash of vertical color to your garden throughout the summer. Its blooms attract pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. It thrives in full sun, but its roots like to be kept shaded. It is best to spread mulch around its roots or plant ground cover perennials next to your clematis to keep its roots shaded. You shouldn’t have to worry about deer getting into your clematis as they are typically deer resistant. ‘Venosa Violacea’ is a part of prune Group 3. During early spring, you’ll want to prune its main stems back down to about 3 feet above ground and also remove any dead or weak stems. This will keep it healthy for the warm season ahead!

One of The Best
This is one of the best I have tried and I have tried many, many. I have it in a pot and it takes the direct HOT Texas sun from 1pm-6pm in summer with only a little fading. Its coloring is very unique.

Star Performer
This was the 1st (of many) Clematis I purchased some years ago. To say it is a star performer is an understatement! It is part of type 3, which means trim low to the ground late winter/early spring. Did it grow too wildly this spring? Cut it back again – and watch it grow and bloom again! I don’t believe you could find a better variety, especially if you are a new gardener!
