(Cascade Hydrangeas®) The Cascade Hydrangeas® Series is growing and we are excited to welcome FAIRYTRAIL™ Green to the family. It displays lovely lime green flower heads at every node, covering the plant in blooms. Hardy in zone 6-9, Hydrangea FAIRYTRAIL™ Green creates a 4 foot tall and 4-5 foot wide draping ball of color. Blooming off of the previous season’s growth, this spring bloomer erupts with large blooms that are mophead shaped as opposed to FAIRYTRAIL BRIDE® which is a lacecap. The deep green draping foliage spills over the sides of the container and is a beautiful backdrop to the lime green blooms. These new Cascade Hydrangeas® open up new options for applications of using hydrangeas. Think Hydrangeas for hanging baskets, draping over rock walls, and spilling over containers in the garden. FAIRYTRAIL™ Green is an excellent reblooming hydrangea for full sun to part shade locations and prefers moist, well-drained locations. We do not recommend trimming this hydrangea at any point unless you are trimming out dead growth. Trimming at any point could affect the current or future blooms. Since Cascade Hydrangeas® bloom earlier in the season than most other hydrangeas, you may need to protect them from unexpected spring frosts by covering with blankets to avoid bud and leaf damage.
