(Spanish Poppy) Enjoy the beautiful glow of Papaver ‘Double Tangerine Gem’ in your early summer garden. Poppy ‘Double Tangerine Gem’ features a double row of paper-thin orange petals. The silvery fern-like foliage stands 24 inches tall and spreads up to 18 inches wide. Once the Oriental Poppies are done blooming, the Spanish Poppies start taking on color. Hardy in zones 6-9, ‘Double Tangerine Gem’ likes to be grown in full sun locations with good drainage. Deer and rabbit resistant, poppies are a great selection for drier areas in your gardens such as rock gardens, or hot sunny borders. Beautiful as a cut flower or use the seed pods in your dried flower arrangements.

One of my favorite garden plants: early to green up, bloom on and off all summer, gently reseeds (but easy to weed out if not wanted), and a soft orange that is easy to blend in. Looks great with the blues of iris! Needs well-drained soil — will not live in clay.
