(Sweet Box) It is always exciting when we can say we have another shrub introduction for the shade. Sarcococca SWEET & LO™ is an early blooming shrub that starts the growing season off with its jasmine-smelling blooms. This evergreen shrub has dark green, glossy foliage and white with a red tip, and petalless flowers. A perfect addition to the landscape for the early pollinators that come to visit. Hardy in zones 5-9, SWEET & LO™ Sweet Box likes to be planted in part to full shade locations with cool, moist, acid soil. Standing 2-3 feet tall and wide, this evergreen shrub forms a nice mounding habit. Compact in size, this deer-resistant shrub offers flower interest before many plants even really start to think about blooming. SWEET & LO™ does sucker a bit, but this can be controlled by pruning or removal of the suckers. Blooming on the previous season’s growth if trimming is needed, we recommend waiting until it is done flowering. SWEET & LO™ Sweet Box is a perfect addition to woodland gardens. Plant in mass, as a specimen, or in containers for years of spring enjoyment. SWEET & LO™ Sweet Box is a PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.

Geraldine –
I’ve had Sarcococca hookeriana var. humilis for many, many years It is a well behaved, good looking, fragrant ground cover which requires no maintenance. It blooms in the winter ie Jan., Feb. so you have to make a point of visiting it to enjoy the fragrance. I’ve gardened in Fairfield, CT for many years. More recently I’ve expanded to Falmouth, MA as well and taken some Sarcococca with me. It is just as happy in Falmouth as in Fairfield !
