(Elderberry) BLACK LACE® Sambucus is perhaps the coolest plant on the market! This new Sambucus looks more like a Japanese maple or a Cimicifuga but it is a whole lot easier to grow. The lacy, intense purple-black foliage offers unique texture to the garden and provides season long interest. In midsummer, massive clusters of pink flowers cover the plant and emit a light lemon fragrance. The flowers are a wonderful contrast to the dark foliage. BLACK LACE® is extremely durable and an excellent grower! A PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.

Lovely Flower Clusters Review by Lindaw | Zone: 6a
Lovely flower clusters throughout the season. Birds enjoy the berries. Black Lace is a little leggy, and breaks easily, so should be planted well away from pathways. (Posted on 1/19/2012)
Slow Growth Review by Grandma W | Zone: 7a
Second year in the ground showing slow growth, branchy but not much foliage. (Posted on 4/24/2010)
Superb! Review by Barbara H | Zone: 7
Last year was my 2nd season with this plant. A little hard to get going with our drought, but it is beautiful. The blooms are superb! (Posted on 2/14/2009)
