(Bigleaf Hydrangeas) With the constant breeding being done on hydrangeas, the specimens just keep getting better. That is just the case with Hydrangea Let’s Dance Big Band™. Let’s Dance Big Band™ features extra-large blooms that are held up on strong stems. The default flower color will naturally be a pinkish-red shade, add some aluminum to the soil and you should see shades of lavender purple. The deep green foliage is a perfect contrast to the shades of pink and purple. Hardy in zones 5-9, Big Band is more cold hardy than other Bigleaf varieties. This reblooming hydrangea blooms early summer off of the previous season’s growth and continues to bloom through the summer off of the new season growth. Standing 30 inches tall and wide, this compact mounding hydrangea is well suited for full sun to part shade locations. For our southern gardeners, we recommend afternoon shade. Hydrangeas are easy to grow and the biggest tip we can give is, don’t trim your bigleaf hydrangeas. If you feel trimming is necessary we recommend doing so in the fall but understand that you will be sacrificing your first round of blooms. Let’s Dance Big Band™ is a perfect specimen for landscapes as well as in a perennial garden. Hydrangeas are an excellent choice for cutting and bringing indoors and placing them in a vase, make them last even longer by drying them for winter decor. Let’s Dance Big Band™ is a PROVEN WINNERS® COLORCHOICE® Flowering Shrub.
